    An ACT Government Media Release

Jon Stanhope MLA, August 31, 2010

LOCAL FIRM WINS TELSTRAS 'BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

Chief Minister and Minister for Business and Economic Development, Jon Stanhope, has congratulated local firm, stratsec, for being awarded the Australian Business of the Year at the 2010 National Telstra Business Awards.

stratsec, which is a cyber-security consulting firm, was awarded the top honour after being named the Australia Medium Business of the Year and the ACT Business of the Year.

"stratsec is one of the ACT's fastest-growing and most promising services firms," Mr Stanhope said today. "Over the past seven years this dynamic company has become one of the ACT's leading providers of information security consulting and testing.

"It now employs 50 consultants and has an export presence in more than 20 countries.

"The ACT Government has been delighted to promote the success of stratsec through the ACT Chief Minister's Export awards, with stratsec taking out the 2008 ACT Emerging Exporter of the Year award and the 2009 ACT ICT Exporter of the Year award.

"I congratulate the stratsec CEO, Peter Lilley, and the entire stratsec team on being named the Australian Business of the Year," Mr Stanhope said.

Established in 2004, stratsec provides security consulting, testing and research services to countries including the USA, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the UK and France.

It is also the first Australian firm to provide security services under the Malaysian Government's Common Criteria Certification and Evaluation Scheme - a global benchmark for IT security.
