EXCEPTIONAL BUSINESSES TAKE FLIGHT

This evening, Ms Mary Porter, Member for Ginninderra, congratulated some of Canberra’s finest businesses that were recognised as winners at the third annual Canberra BusinessPoint Gala Dinner and Awards at a ceremony held at Ten Richmond, Fairbairn on Friday evening.

“These Awards are fitting acknowledgement of the work done by Canberra BusinessPoint and the opportunities that have been provided to Canberra’s business community,” said Ms Porter, who represented Chief Minister Jon Stanhope at the event.

“It is particularly encouraging that so many businesses have taken advantage of the range of services provided by the Canberra BusinessPoint team at Deloitte Growth Solutions.”

An array of Awards categories showcased the range and depth of successful businesses operating in the region. Ms Porter paid tribute to all the Award winners and finalists.

“I applaud all the businesses who have dedicated their time and effort in entering this year’s Awards. The high number and standard of entrants is testament to ACT’s business community and their interest in the Awards.

The winners of each category are as follows:
– Business Plan Award - Daily Market;
– Innovation & Commercialisation – Random Computing Services Pty Ltd;
– Sales Growth – Lucy Media; and
– Emerging Entrepreneur – Zambrero Fresh Mex Grill.

“I congratulate all winners, especially the 2010 Canberra BusinessPoint Enterprise of the Year, Lucy Media, who have proven themselves a very worthy winner of this award in the face of some very stiff competition,” said Ms Porter.

Lucy Media is a media and entertainment company based in the ACT operating a portfolio of websites focussing on entertainment, arts, business, politics and sport. Most of Lucy Media’s readers are based in the US, Canada and the UK, with a smaller proportion in Australia.
