Mary Porter AM MLA, April 7, 2010 GO WILD AT TIDBINBILLAToday Ms Mary Porter MLA, encouraged Canberrans to experience Canberra’s wild side this Sunday (11 April) at the annual Tidbinbilla Extravaganza. “Enjoy a fun day out with family and friends discovering Tidbinbilla at the first major event of the 2010 Canberra and Region Heritage Festival,” Ms Porter said. “This free family event will deliver a range of fun activities and entertainment including live music from The Jukes, children’s games, Aboriginal dancers, face painting and the Great Aussie Bush Show. “Visitors can get close to wildlife in the Sanctuary or explore one of the many scenic walking trails in the reserve. Children will love the Nature Discovery Playground and wildlife displays. Ms Porter said the Extravaganza is part of the two-week 2010 Canberra and Region Heritage Festival which will see over 75 unique events celebrating our natural, historic and indigenous heritage. “Jump aboard the jungle theme train ride, get a birds eye view from a hot air balloon ride or test your skills in the SES obstacle course and Rural Fire Service water activities with the rural fire tanker”. “Bring a picnic or enjoy a barbeque, coffee, ice cream and other food available for purchase.” “This year’s Hunters and Collectors, acknowledges the role many in our community play in collecting, conserving and interpreting our rich heritage. “With Canberra’s centenary just around the corner, the Heritage Festival gives us an opportunity to explore how the past has shaped the Canberra of today. "I encourage Canberrans to discover our region's natural and cultural heritage at the Tidbinbilla Extravaganza this Sunday," Ms Porter said.
