Simon Corbell MLA, August 10, 2010 THE HON. BERNARD TEAGUE AO, APPOINTED AS AN ACTING JUDGE OF THE ACT SUPREME COURTAttorney General, Simon Corbell, has today announced The Hon. Bernard Teague AO, as the third acting judge of the ACT Supreme Court. "It is with great pleasure I announce the appointment of The Hon. Bernard Teague AO, as an acting judge of the ACT Supreme Court," Mr Corbell said. "This is the latest announcement, of acting positions on the ACT Supreme Court bench as part of the ACT Governments strategy to reduce the backlog of cases in the court." Acting Justice Teague will join recent appointees, Acting Justice Jane Mathews AO, and Acting Justice John Nield on the bench. "I am certain Acting Justice Teague will bring with him a range of experiences that will place him well to serve the people of the ACT during his appointment," Mr Corbell added. The Hon. Bernard Teague AO is a former partner from Corr & Corr and is a retired judge of the Supreme Court Victoria (1987 - 2008). From 2001-2007 he was the Principal Judge of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court Victoria. The Hon. Bernard Teague AO has been a member of many judicial and legal organisations, and is a retired judicial member of the Victorian Adult Parole Board. He has published articles and conference papers on defamation, lawyer competence, courts-media relations and judicial ethics. More recently The Hon. Bernard Teague AO was appointed chairperson of the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Royal Commission. Acting Justice Teague will commence sitting later this year.
