EXTRAVAGANZA AT TIDBINBILLA THIS SUNDAY
Submitted by Charles Njora on Fri, 03/04/2009 - 9:19am.
Chief Minister and Minister for Territory and Municipal Services Jon Stanhope today encouraged Canberrans to visit Tidbinbilla this Sunday from 11:30am to 3:00pm for the annual Extravaganza. "The Extravaganza has been bringing Canberrans together to experience activities on offer at Tidbinbilla for more than a decade," Mr Stanhope said. "This free family event promises live music, story-tellers, Aboriginal dancers, face painting and the Cuddly Critters kids' show. "Visitors can also experience the flying foxin the Discovery Playground, get close to wildlife in the Sanctuary or explore one of the many scenic walking trails in the reserve. "Tidbinbilla is a reassuring example of nature's ability to heal after fire and demonstrates the ACT Labor Government's commitment to rehabilitate and develop this important recreational and educational precinct. "I encourage Canberrans to discover our region's natural and cultural heritage at the Tidbinbilla Extravaganza this Sunday," Mr Stanhope said. ACTION buses will take visitors to the Sanctuary, Ribbon Gum Theatre, Mountain Creek walking trails and Rock Valley Homestead throughout the day. Buses leave from Sheedy's car park every 20 minutes. The Extravaganza is part of the two-week Canberra and Region Heritage Festival. The Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve is a 40 minute drive from the Canberra city centre.
