Alan Foskett was named the recipient of the 2CC ActewAGL Chief Minister's Lifetime Achievement Award during Seniors' Week 2006.

Mr Foskett has published over twenty books about the history of Canberra. He is actively involved in several community groups, as both a member and guest speaker.

Alan is also a member of the ACT Sport and Recreation Actively Ageing Program’s steering committee.

"The Lifetime Achievement Awards are about education and awareness. Through these awards we recognise the achievements of our older citizens, and in so doing, work to change attitudes in our society about ageing," Mary said, "the Lifetime Achievement Awards seek to set straight the view that older people lead reclusive and sedentary lifestyles. I am so proud to live in a city where older people participate so fully in all aspects of community life."

Mary was particularly pleased to see programs she initiated while CEO of Volunteering ACT recognised at the awards ceremony.

Tony Fitzgerald was highly commended for his volunteer work with CONNECTIONS, a program that assists people recovering from a mental illness and John Crossley was recognised for his contribution to the SPICE program, which works with young people at risk.
